Why Acupuncture?
Acupuncture has been around for a few thousand years.
It’s accessible, it’s confidential, it’s simple.
It’s accessible, it’s confidential, it’s simple.
How it works
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine look at life as a cohesive, intricate matrix of connections.
Qi (energy/vitality) moves through these connections.
One way this matrix can be calibrated or adjusted is through acupuncture points.
I use thin acupuncture needles or tap/stimulate the points without needles.
In TCM, a diagnosis is called a pattern, so the treatment is to adjust the pattern in specific ways.
An acu-treatment signals the body, kind of like a reminder for internal harmony.
Below you can look at a general list of symptoms and conditions that people choose acupuncture to treat.
Depending on the treatment plan we create, one-two times a week is terrific for at least 2 weeks.
The Basics
I ask you questions, I look at your tongue and feel your pulses, three at each wrist. I then select the acu-points and gently insert a few fine acupuncture needles. I make sure you are comfortable and let you rest for about 20 minutes.
Where do the needles go?
Points for your treatment may include legs, arms, abdomen, back, face, ears and head.
Your treatment might also involve acupressure, facial or body cupping, gua sha or meridian tapping.
I will explain the treatment and needle placement to you beforehand, and proceed only with your consent.
All needles are single-use and sterile.
What to wear
Shorts and a t-shirt are suitable for your treatment. If your treatment involves your back, then
proper covers are provided to assure your comfort and privacy.
You can change in privacy in the treatment room before and after your treatment.
Can you bring a friend?
You are most welcome to bring in a friend, there is a comfortable reception area to wait in,
or an additional treatment room if you’d both like a treatment.
Because of the nature of the treatment, friends are not permitted in the same treatment room during an appointment.
Your Appointment!
Acupuncture can be a pretty cool thing to experience.
Chinese Medicine is rooted in harmonious simplicity: yin-yang, water-fire, inward-outward.
There are points with names like “Great Enveloping”, “Soul Gate”, and “Celestial Pivot” that express
the kinds of effects this form of medicine has reverently offered for several centuries.
Come with clothes that will be comfortable (or safely nestle under the coverings in your underwear)
Know that the treatment space is safe and confidential.
Listen to my questions and answer them as best you can.
Tell me if you are unsure or uncomfortable, and ask questions if they arise.
Questions, Tongue and Pulses
I will ask you what you want to treat (ex. period pain, anxiety).
Then I will ask for some medical history, like any conditions or Western diagnoses or treatments you are doing,
any medications or supplements or dietary particularities you have, any past injuries or surgeries you’ve had.
You can come prepared with that information written down if it helps.
I will also ask you a series of questions (about sweat, taste in your mouth, stress level, mood, sleep quality/quantity.
It is really helpful to know about digestion and elimination (pee/poop) and periods.
If you’d rather email me this information before your treatment, I will reply with the detailed questions for you to submit).
I am very used to the details, to me it is really important information!
"Show me your Tongue": 👅 That’s all you have to do, stick out your tongue. I can explain what I see if you are curious.
Pulses: These are different from the medical radial pulse. TCM pulses reflect the state of the Qi in the body’s different systems.
Booking some YOU time
Whether you need some space or some connection, it's healthful to choose that.
This is your appointment, you may book it, you may come alone, you may request I stay in the room or wait outside.
For my records I request to have contact with a parent or guardian prior to your initial treatment.
This may be over the phone or in person, and only for transparency of what your treatment entails including payment.
Legally in BC, you may book your appointment and consent to your treatment
if I discern that you fully understand what I explain to you..

About Me
I’ve worked with teens since before I began teaching high school in 2000, and have mentored hundreds of kids through both coaching and classroom experiences. I’ve taught or mentored
meditation, yoga, personal empowerment and perspective, and self attunement.
My discovery and intrigue for Chinese Medicine and other non-allopathic modalities was spurred by my GP when I was in grade 11. As a hobby, I started studying both Chinese and Allopathic medicines,
dreams, bodymind and psychoneuroimmunology.
I registered as a Jin Shin Do®️ Acupressurist in 2012, an Acupuncturist in 2021,
a TCM Practitioner (Herbalist) in 2022, and completed the Doctor of Chinese Medicine Diploma,
as well as a Practitioner Certificate in Medical QiGong in 2024.
